Did Mother Nature Spare Us?

I think the jury is still out on that decision, but the crops aren't looking as bad as they were last week at this time. We got 3/4 of an inch of rain - perhaps just enough to keep the ravages of drought at bay. The sunflowers will hopefully look spectacular in August! Remember to look for us when it comes time to tour a sunflower field. We'll have u-pick stems and photo ops for family fun once they begin their spectacular show. I'll keep you posted!

Sunflowers and Canadian Haze late June 2023

In the meantime, we are covered in Canadian Wildfire smoke much of the time, William's iconic "Lake View Farm" barn is in the Depot Art Gallery in Red Wing (painted by the lovely Katharine Gotham), and THE OIL IS PRESSED! It will be at least a week to let it settle and then bottle before we get it into the store, but it's almost here!

I've been busy in the Kitchen creating all sorts of new sunflower oil goodies for the farm store. There are some amazing Chocolate Walnut Nut Clusters, fan favorite, Salsa Macha, and Basil and Sunflower Oil Herb Bombs. These pretty little nuggets are frozen to bring that taste of summer into your winter meals.

Keep up the rain dancing, would you please. We're not out of the woods yet, so whatever you can do to get Mother Nature on our side would be greatly appreciated.

Sending love from the farm,

Sarah
