Every September since William and I have been running the farm store, I tell you that it's time to get your butts on down the road, map out a backroads itinerary and enjoy the spectacle of FALL that only an area full of maples can host. I'm here to tell you that the best leaf looking happens in places where farms are called Sugar Hill Farm, Sugar Bush Farms or Maple Acres. Where is this you ask? Anywhere out here in Driftless Wisconsin will deliver a grand autumnal visual treat if you time it just right. Sure, lots of folks say PEAK leafing happens the first or second weekend in October, but out here, the wowsome display is already underway. BIG HINT: The roads around Lake View Organic Farm are prime leaf touring ground. Get up off that River Road and drive the backroads between Prescott, Ellsworth, Plum City, Durand, Alma, Pepin, Stockholm, Maiden Rock and Bay City. It's time to zigzag the Driftless way and explore a bit! Just make sure to stay on the right side of the road and don't go on like a race car driver. We move a little slower out here.

FARM STORE
What's in the store? Well, there's a new hot sauce, some FIRE CIDER, four soups, cookies, and Bloody Mary Mix to name a few new things. We've been having some fun with apples, heirloom tomatoes and hot chilis. Of course, if we can find them, there are eggs, and for you gardeners putting the beds to sleep, we've got the organic straw you want on a pallet for easy grab-n-go just outside the store. If you've got animals that require small squares of hay, we've got those as well. Straw and Hay...we've got them both...they are different, remember? The birds love our sunflower seeds. Come buy a 50 pound bag to fill your feeders.
Yes, we've got interesting things to sell, a beautiful setting to take it all in, and spectacular scenery along the way. It would be a shame if you missed it.
Sending love from the farm,
Sarah
